Aligned purpose disassociation protocol for multiple applications

A system comprising:

• a multiple-application landscape that includes multiple applications including an initiating application that is configured to initiate an aligned purpose disassociation protocol;
• a data privacy integration service comprising;
• one or more computing devices;
• and
• a non-transitory computer-readable medium coupled to the one or more computing devices having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by the one or more computing devices, cause the one or more computing devices to perform operations comprising:
• receiving an initiation request from the initiating application to initiate the aligned purpose disassociation protocol for a first purpose for a first object instance, wherein the first purpose indicates a first type of processing that can be performed on the first object instance and wherein the initiating application is configured as an eligible application to initiate the aligned purpose disassociation protocol for the first purpose and an object type of the first object instance;
• determining whether a global minimum association timestamp is stored for the first purpose and the first object instance, wherein the global minimum association timestamp indicates a known earliest time that the first purpose can be disassociated from the first object instance;
• accepting the initiation request in response to determining that no global minimum association timestamp is stored for the first purpose and the first object instance that is greater than a current-time timestamp;
• in response to accepting the initiation request:
• identifying, as status phase applications, applications in the multiple-application landscape that are configured to participate in a status phase of the aligned purpose disassociation protocol;
• and
• sending a status request to each of the status phase applications, wherein the status request requests each status phase application to respond with a status response that indicates whether the status phase application is able to disassociate the first purpose from the first object instance;
• receiving, as received status responses, status responses from at least some of the status phase applications;
• determining a central disassociation decision for the first purpose and the first object instance based on the received status responses;
• identifying, as disassociation phase applications, applications in the multiple-application landscape that are configured to participate in a disassociation phase of the aligned purpose disassociation protocol;
• and
• sending the central disassociation decision for the first purpose and the first object instance to each of the disassociation phase applications.

A non-transitory, computer-readable medium coupled to one or more processors and having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations, the operations comprising:

• receiving, at a data privacy integration service and from an initiating application in a multiple-application landscape, an initiation to initiate an aligned purpose disassociation protocol for a first purpose for a first object instance, wherein the first purpose indicates a first type of processing that can be performed on the first object instance and wherein the initiating application is configured as an eligible application to initiate the aligned purpose disassociation protocol for the first purpose and an object type of the first object instance;
• determining, by the data privacy integration service, whether a global minimum association timestamp is stored for the first purpose and the first object instance, wherein the global minimum association timestamp indicates a known earliest time that the first purpose can be disassociated from the first object instance;
• accepting, by the data privacy integration service, the initiation request in response to determining that no global minimum association timestamp is stored for the first purpose and the first object instance that is greater than a current-time timestamp;
• in response to accepting the initiation request:
• identifying, by the data privacy integration service, as status phase applications, applications in the multiple-application landscape that are configured to participate in a status phase of the aligned purpose disassociation protocol;
• and
• sending, by the data privacy integration service, a status request to each of the status phase applications, wherein the status request requests each status phase application to respond with a status response that indicates whether the status phase application is able to disassociate the first purpose from the first object instance;
• receiving, by the data privacy integration service, as received status responses, status responses from at least some of the status phase applications;
• determining, by the data privacy integration service, a central disassociation decision for the first purpose and the first object instance based on the received status responses;
• identifying, by the data privacy integration service, as disassociation phase applications, applications in the multiple-application landscape that are configured to participate in a disassociation phase of the aligned purpose disassociation protocol;
• and
• sending, by the data privacy integration service, the central disassociation decision for the first purpose and the first object instance to each of the disassociation phase applications.
