Refrigerator and method for controlling refrigerator

A refrigerator comprising:

• a cabinet that defines a storage compartment therein;
• an evaporator configured to cool air;
• a heater configured to heat the evaporator;
• a differential pressure sensor configured to detect a pressure differential;
• a compressor configured to compress refrigerant;
• and
• a controller configured to perform a defrosting operation of the evaporator and to control the defrosting operation based on the pressure differential,
• wherein the controller is configured to control the defrosting operation based on the pressure differential, the pressure differential being detected by the differential pressure sensor based on a triggering condition being satisfied for triggering the defrosting operation of the evaporator,
• wherein the controller is further configured to:
• based on the pressure differential being greater than a predetermined pressure, control the compressor to supply a first cooling power after terminating the defrosting operation of the evaporator.

A method for controlling a refrigerator including a cabinet that defines a storage compartment therein, an evaporator, a heater configured to heat the evaporator, and a differential pressure sensor configured to detect a difference of air pressure, the method comprising:

• determining whether a triggering condition for triggering a defrosting operation of the evaporator is satisfied;
• based on a determination that the triggering condition is satisfied, detecting, by the differential pressure sensor, a pressure differential corresponding to a difference of air pressure;
• performing the defrosting operation;
• and
• controlling the defrosting operation based on the pressure differential,
• wherein controlling the defrosting operation comprises:
• driving the heater to provide a first heat amount to the evaporator based on the pressure differential being greater than a predetermined pressure;
• and
• driving the heater to provide a second heat amount to the evaporator based on the pressure differential being less than or equal to the predetermined pressure, and wherein the first heat amount is less than the second heat amount.
