Curable compositions and methods of using the same

A curable dental composition comprising:

• at least one (meth)acrylate monomer;
• silver;
• and
• a photoinitiator system comprising:
• at least one cyclic β-diketone represented by the formula
• or a tautomer thereof, wherein:
• R1 represents H or an organic moiety having from 1 to 32 carbon atoms and optionally 1 to 12 heteroatoms selected from O, N, and combinations thereof;
• each R2 independently represents H or an aliphatic group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and up to two of oxygen and sulfur atoms;
• and
• n represents 1, 2, or 3;
• and
• at least one Type II photoinitiator.

A method of using a curable dental composition, the method comprising:

• contacting the curable dental composition with at least one substrate, wherein the curable dental composition comprises:
• at least one (meth)acrylate monomer;
• silver;
• and
• a photoinitiator system comprising:
• at least one cyclic β-diketone represented by the formula
• or a tautomer thereof, wherein:
• R1 represents H or an organic moiety having from 1 to 32 carbon atoms and optionally 1 to 12 heteroatoms selected from O, N, and combinations thereof;
• each R2 independently represents H or an aliphatic group having from 1 to 12 carbon atoms, and up to two of oxygen and sulfur atoms;
• and
• n represents 1, 2, or 3;
• and
• at least one Type II photoinitiator;
• and
• exposing the curable dental composition to sufficient actinic electromagnetic radiation to at least partially cure the curable dental composition.
