Abstract
A polymer composition comprising a liquid crystalline polymer that contains repeating units derived from naphthenic hydroxycarboxylic and/or dicarboxylic acids in an amount of about 50 mol. % or more is provided. The polymer composition exhibits a dielectric constant of about 4 or less and a dissipation factor of about 0.05 or less at a frequency of 10 GHz.
Claims22
A polymer composition comprising a liquid crystalline polymer that contains repeating units derived from naphthenic hydroxycarboxylic and/or dicarboxylic acids in an amount of 70 mol. % or more and comprises repeating units derived from 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid, 4,4-biphenol, and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, wherein a molar ratio of 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid to 4-hydroxybenzoic acid is from 24 to about 40, wherein the polymer composition exhibits a dielectric constant of 3.5 or less and a dissipation factor of about 0.05 or less at a frequency of 10 GHz, wherein the polymer composition exhibits a tensile elongation of about 2% or more as determined at a temperature of about 23° C. in accordance with ISO Test No. 527:2012, and further wherein the liquid crystalline polymer comprises repeating units derived from 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid in an amount of 76 mol % or more or contains repeating units derived from naphthenic dicarboxylic acids.
