Power stealing in relay circuits

A system configured to be connected to a relay and a power source, the system comprising:

• a rechargeable battery;
• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
• determining to activate the relay that activates a power load;
• causing a first amount of current to flow from the power source and to the relay that actives a power load, the first amount of current being greater than or equal to an upper threshold amount of current associated with the relay entering an activated state;
• subsequent to the relay entering the activated state, diverting a second amount of current, from the first amount of current, through a circuit path of the system that includes the rechargeable battery that is charged by the second amount of current,
• wherein the second amount of current is consumed by the rechargeable battery such that a third amount of current is provided to the relay, the third amount of current being greater than a lower threshold amount of current for maintaining the relay in the activated state.

An electronic device configured to be connected to a relay and a power source, the electronic device comprising:

• a rechargeable battery;
• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
• determining to activate the relay that activates a power load;
• causing a first amount of current to flow from a power source and to a relay that actives the power load, the first amount of current being greater than or equal to an upper threshold amount of current associated with the relay entering an activated state;
• subsequent to the relay entering the activated state, causing a second amount of current to flow from the power source through a first circuit path and to the relay;
• and
• causing a third amount of current to flow from the power source through a second circuit path of the electronic device that includes a rechargeable battery that is charged by the third amount of current,
• wherein the second amount of current and the third amount of current comprises a total amount of current flowing through the relay that is greater than a lower threshold amount of current for maintaining the relay in the activated state.
