A method for counteracting or inhibiting coronavirus replication in a subject, wherein the method comprises administering to the subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of Formula (I):
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or stereoisomer thereof,
- wherein:
- R1 is NHR10, NHC(O)R8, NHC(O)NHR7, or NHC(O)OR9;
- R7 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, aryl, or heteroaryl;
- R8 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, aryl, or heteroaryl;
- R9 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, aryl, or heteroaryl;
- R10 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, aryl, or heteroaryl;
- (i) R2 is Formula (IC):
- L1-Z (IC)
- wherein:
- L1 is alkylene;
- and
- Z is heteroarylene-aryl or arylene-heteroaryl;
- or
- (ii) R2 is Formula (ID):
- L2-C(O)-L3-R11 (ID)
- wherein:
- L2 is a covalent bond or alkylene;
- L3 is a covalent bond or alkylene;

- wherein the coronavirus replication is of a coronavirus selected from the group consisting of MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV-1, and SARS-CoV-2.
A method for treating a coronavirus infection in a subject, wherein the method comprises administering to the subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of Formula (I):
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or stereoisomer thereof,
- wherein:
- R1 is NHR10, NHC(O)R8, NHC(O)NHR7, or NHC(O)OR9;
- R7 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, aryl, or heteroaryl;
- R8 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, aryl, or heteroaryl;
- R9 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, heterocyclyl, aryl, or heteroaryl;
