Abstract
An agricultural implement includes a disk assembly having a hanger and a disk blade. Furthermore, the agricultural implement includes first and second fasteners coupling the hanger to a frame member of the agricultural implement. Additionally, the agricultural implement includes a first load sensor configured to generate data indicative of a first load being applied to the first fastener by the disk assembly. Moreover, the agricultural implement includes a second load sensor configured to generate data indicative of a second load being applied to the second fastener by the disk assembly. In addition, the agricultural implement includes a computing system configured to determine when the disk blade is bent based on the data generated by the first and second load sensors.
Claims20
An agricultural implement, comprising:
- a frame extending in a longitudinal direction between a forward end of the frame and an aft end of the frame, the frame further extending in a lateral direction between a first side of the frame and a second side of the frame, the frame including a frame member;
- a disk assembly supported on the frame, the disk assembly including a hanger coupled to the frame member and a disk blade rotatably coupled to the hanger;
- first and second fasteners coupling the hanger to the frame member;
- a first load sensor in operative association with the first fastener, the first load sensor configured to generate data indicative of a first load being applied to the first fastener by the disk assembly;
- a second load sensor in operative association with the second fastener, the second load sensor configured to generate data indicative of a second load being applied to the second fastener by the disk assembly;
- and
- a computing system communicatively coupled to the first and second load sensors, the computing system configured to determine when the disk blade is bent based on the data generated by the first and second load sensors.
A system for detecting bent disk blades on an agricultural implement, the system comprising:
- a disk assembly supported on a frame member of a frame of the agricultural implement, the frame extending in a longitudinal direction between a forward end of the frame and an aft end of the frame, the frame further extending in a lateral direction between a first side of the frame and a second side of the frame, the disk assembly including a hanger coupled to the frame member and a disk blade rotatably coupled to the hanger;
- first and second fasteners coupling the hanger to the frame member;
- a first load sensor in operative association with the first fastener, the first load sensor configured to generate data indicative of a first load being applied to the first fastener by the disk assembly;
- a second load sensor in operative association with the second fastener, the second load sensor configured to generate data indicative of a second load being applied to the second fastener by the disk assembly;
- and
- a computing system communicatively coupled to the first and second load sensors, the computing system configured to determine when the disk blade is bent based on the data generated by the first and second load sensors.
A method for detecting bent disk blades on an agricultural implement, the agricultural implement includes a disk assembly supported on a frame member of the agricultural implement, the disk assembly including a hanger and a disk blade rotatably coupled to the hanger, the agricultural implement further including first and second fasteners coupling the hanger to the frame member, the method comprising:
- receiving, with a computing system, first load sensor data indicative of a first load being applied to the first fastener by the disk assembly;
- receiving, with the computing system, second load sensor data indicative of a second load being applied to the second fastener by the disk assembly;
- determining, with the computing system, when the disk blade is bent based on the received first and second load sensor data;
- and
- initiating, with the computing system, a control action when it is determined that the disk blade is bent.
