Abstract
Methods are described for measuring the amount of a vitamin B2 in a sample. More specifically, mass spectrometric methods are described for detecting and quantifying vitamin B2 in a sample utilizing on-line extraction methods coupled with tandem mass spectrometric techniques.
Claims9
A method for determining the amount of vitamin B2 in a biological sample from a human, said method comprising:
- purifying the sample by turbulent flow liquid chromatography and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC);
- ionizing vitamin B2 to produce one or more ions detectable by tandem mass spectrometry;
- determining by mass spectrometry the amount of a fragment ion;
- and
- determining the amount of vitamin B2 in the sample from the amount of the fragment ion;
- and
- wherein the method has a lower limit of quantitation of 5 nmol/L to 25 nmol/L, inclusive.
