Piece picking system

A piece picking system, comprising a main conveyor unit and a plurality of sorting modules, wherein the main conveyor unit and the plurality of sorting modules are arranged crosswise in a matrix, and the main conveyor unit is located above or below the plurality of sorting modules;

• a plurality of picking stations are arranged at a side of the main conveyor unit, and are adjacent to each of the plurality of sorting modules;
• the main conveyor unit is configured to convey a first container carrying an item to be picked;
• each of the plurality of picking stations is configured to pick the item in a required quantity from the first container conveyed by the main conveyor unit according to an order requirement;
• and each of the plurality of sorting modules is configured to sort the item picked by an adjacent picking station, wherein each of the plurality of sorting modules comprises a sorting track, a sorting cart and a plurality of bins;
• an order container corresponding to an order is placed in each of the plurality of bins;
• and the sorting cart moves on the sorting track to receive the item transferred from the picking station and dispatch the item to the order container in the corresponding bin, wherein the main conveyor unit is disposed directly above at least a subset of the plurality of bins, said subset of the plurality of bins including said corresponding bin.
