A crampon system adaptable to different widths of footwear, wherein the crampon system comprises:
- a metal base plate having a substantially rigid horizontal platform;
- a first adjustable, polymeric support having a substantially horizontal platform, wherein the first adjustable support is less rigid than the base plate;
- and a second adjustable, polymeric support having a substantially horizontal platform, wherein the first adjustable support is less rigid than the base plate, wherein the base plate and the first adjustable support are rotatably connected, wherein the base plate and the second adjustable support are rotatably connected, wherein the base plate and the first adjustable support are releasably connected, wherein the base plate and the second adjustable support are releasably connected, wherein the first adjustable support or the second adjustable support are able to move relative to the base plate upon release of a fastener, wherein the substantially horizontal platform of the first adjustable support and the substantially horizontal platform of the second adjustable support are in the substantially the same plane, wherein the first adjustable support and second adjustable support are rotatably connected to the base plate at different locations, wherein the crampon system is configured such that the substantially rigid horizontal platform extends from a toe box anterior end to a midfoot of a footwear during use and the substantially horizontal platforms of the first and second adjustable supports extend from the toe box anterior end to the midfoot of the footwear, are located between the substantially rigid horizontal platform and the footwear during use, and do not overlap each other.
A crampon system adapted for use with footwear comprising:
- a base plate comprised of a substantially rigid, metallic material and in a substantially horizontal plane;
- at least two adjustable polymeric supports comprising a substantially horizontal platform and lateral supports coupled to the horizontal platform and configured to contact a lateral side of the footwear upper during use, wherein the at least two adjustable polymeric supports are less rigid than the base plate;
- wherein a bottom side of the at least two adjustable supports are in direct contact with a top side of the base plate, wherein each of the at least two adjustable supports are connected to the base plate by a plurality of attachments, wherein two of the plurality of attachments, one on each of the at least two adjustable supports, are connected to the base plate allowing for only rotational positional adjustment of the at least two adjustable supports relative to the base plate, wherein a second set of the plurality of attachments include multiple positions for engaging the base plate to the at least two adjustable supports with a releasable fastener, wherein the at least two adjustable supports extend from a toe box anterior end to the midfoot of the footwear during use and do not overlap with one another.
