## Abstract

In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, a method performed, by an access and mobility management function (AMF), in a wireless communication system, the method comprising receiving, from a user equipment (UE) with a packet data network (PDN) connection established, a registration request message including a first single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) associated with the PDN connection, determining a second S-NSSAI associated with a packet data unit (PDU) session corresponding to the PDN connection based on the first S-NSSAI, and transmitting an information regarding the second S-NSSAI to a user plane function (UPF) via a session management function (SMF) to request modification of N4 session.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method performed, by an access and mobility management function (AMF), in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
receiving, from a user equipment (UE) with a packet data network (PDN) connection established, a registration request message including first single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) associated with the PDN connection;
determining second S-NSSAI associated with a packet data unit (PDU) session corresponding to the PDN connection, based on the first S-NSSAI; and
transmitting the second S-NSSAI to a session management function (SMF), wherein the second S-NSSAI is used for N4 session modification between the SMF and a user plane function (UPF).

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting of the second S-NSSAI comprises transmitting a message for requesting an update of the PDU session to the SMF, and
wherein the message for requesting the update of the PDU session includes the second S-NSSAI.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1,
wherein the second S-NSSAI is used for performance measurement by the UPF.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1,
wherein in case that third S-NSSAI stored in the UPF and associated with the PDU session is different with the second S-NSSAI, the third S-NSSAI is updated with the second S-NSSAI.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1,
wherein the second S-NSSAI includes information on a slice/service type (SST) used in a 5th generation system (5GS) and information on a slice differentiator (SD) used in the 5GS.

### Claim 6

An access and mobility management function (AMF) in a wireless communication system, the AMF comprising:
a transceiver; and
at least one processor configured to:
receive, from a user equipment (UE) with a packet data network (PDN) connection established, a registration request message including first single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) associated with the PDN connection,
determine second S-NSSAI associated with a packet data unit (PDU) session corresponding to the PDN connection, based on the first S-NSSAI, and
transmit the second S-NSSAI to a session management function (SMF), wherein the second S-NSSAI is used for N4 session modification between the SMF and a user plane function (UPF).

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The AMF of claim 6, wherein;
the second S-NSSAI is included in a message for requesting an update of the PDU session, transmitted from the AMF to the SMF.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The AMF of claim 6,
wherein the second S-NSSAI is used for performance measurement by the UPF.

### Claim 9 (depends on 6)

The AMF of claim 6,
wherein in case that third S-NSSAI stored in the UPF and associated with the PDU session is different with the second S-NSSAI, the third S-NSSAI is updated with the second S-NSSAI.

### Claim 10 (depends on 6)

The AMF of claim 6,
wherein the second S-NSSAI includes information on a slice/service type (SST) used in a 5th generation system (5GS) and information on a slice differentiator (SD) used in the 5GS.

### Claim 11

A wireless communication system, the system comprising:
a session management function (SMF); and
an access and mobility management function (AMF) configured to:
receive, from a user equipment (UE) with a packet data network (PDN) connection established, a registration request message including first single-network slice selection assistance information (S-NSSAI) associated with the PDN connection,
determine second S-NSSAI associated with a packet data unit (PDU) session corresponding to the PDN connection, based on the first S-NSSAI, and
transmit the second S-NSSAI to the SMF, and
wherein the SMF is configured to transmit the second S-NSSAI to a user plane function (UPF) for N4 session modification.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)
