Abstract
The present disclosure relates to the production of sialylated Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs), in particular to the biosynthetic production of 3′-sialyllactose (3′SL), and to genetically engineered cells and methods suitable for said production.
Claims20
A genetically modified cell comprising a heterologous recombinant nucleic acid sequence encoding an enzyme with α-2,3-sialyltransferase activity, wherein the enzyme is Poral with at least 80% identity to the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
- 3, and wherein said cell produces a sialylated human milk oligosaccharide (HMO).
