Abstract
Systems for processing material, taping stations to apply tape to one or more rolls of material, and methods of processing material are disclosed. A system for processing material includes a winding station and a taping station. The winding station includes a winder to wrap material around a mandrel to produce one or more rolls of material. The taping station is arranged downstream of the winding station to receive the one or more rolls of material therefrom and apply tape to the one or more rolls of material.
Claims20
A taping station to apply tape to one or more rolls of material, the taping station comprising:
- a plurality of material support rollers to support the one or more rolls of material for rotation in a circumferential direction during a taping operation;
- a plurality of tape head assemblies supported for translation relative to one another in a longitudinal direction transverse to the circumferential direction;
- and
- a cage defining an enclosure in which the plurality of tape head assemblies are supported for translation relative to one another in the longitudinal direction,
- wherein the cage includes a pair of beams extending in the longitudinal direction to at least partially define a roof of the cage, and
- wherein the plurality of tape head assemblies are supported in the cage for translation relative to the pair of beams.
A taping station to apply tape to one or more rolls of material, the taping station comprising:
- a plurality of material support rollers to support the one or more rolls of material for rotation in a circumferential direction during a taping operation;
- a plurality of tape head assemblies supported for translation relative to one another in a longitudinal direction transverse to the circumferential direction;
- and
- a cage defining an enclosure in which the plurality of tape head assemblies are supported for translation relative to one another in the longitudinal direction,
- wherein:
- the taping station is positioned downstream of a winding station to receive the one or more rolls of material from the winding station,
- a conveyor is arranged between the winding station and the taping station to convey the one or more rolls of material from the winding station to the taping station, and
- the conveyor is at least partially housed by the cage.
A taping station to apply tape to one or more rolls of material, the taping station comprising:
- a plurality of material support rollers to support the one or more rolls of material for rotation in a circumferential direction during a taping operation;
- a plurality of tape head assemblies supported for translation relative to one another in a longitudinal direction transverse to the circumferential direction;
- and
- a cage defining an enclosure in which the plurality of tape head assemblies are supported for translation relative to one another in the longitudinal direction,
- wherein the plurality of tape head assemblies includes no more than two tape assemblies.
