This invention relates to compositions for use in the promotion of the development and/or of the growth of the surface area of the small intestine and in the associated improvement of the digestive capacity in an infant or in a young child.

A method of promoting the digestive capacity in a child in need thereof, the method comprising administering to the child a growing-up milk comprising at least one N-acetylated oligosaccharide and at least one fucosylated oligosaccharide, wherein the growing-up milk is administered in an effective amount for improving enterohepatic circulation in the child.
