## Abstract

An electronic device such as a wearable electronic device may have a coil. The device may have a finger-ring housing that surrounds a finger-shaped opening to allow the device to be worn on a finger of a user. The coil may be formed from metal traces on a printed circuit that wrap around the finger-shaped opening. Near-field communications circuitry in the device may be used to gather near-field communications tag information. The tag information may be gathered in response to user input. Wireless communications circuitry that uses a non-near-field communications antenna may wirelessly transmit the tag information and/or other information such as user input to a companion device.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A ring device, comprising:
a ring-shaped housing;
sensors including a motion sensor and a fingerprint sensor mounted in the ring-shaped housing; and
near-field communications circuitry that is configured to emulate a near-field communications tag, wherein information from at least one of the sensors is configured to trigger an operation with the near-field communications circuitry.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The ring device defined in claim 1 wherein the motion sensor comprises an accelerometer.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The ring device defined in claim 1 wherein the near-field communications circuitry includes a near-field communications reader.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The ring device defined in claim 3 wherein the near-field communications reader is configured to obtain tag information from a near-field communications tag in response to the information.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The ring device defined in claim 4 wherein the information comprises information associated with user input.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The ring device defined in claim 5 wherein the user input comprises movement of the ring-shaped housing that is detected with the motion sensor.

### Claim 7 (depends on 4)
