Abstract
According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a programmable system for a munition, comprising: an electroacoustic transducer, arranged to receive an acoustic signal comprising data, and convert that signal into an electrical signal comprising data; a processor, arranged to receive and process the electrical signal comprising data, and to use that data in programming of the programmable system.
Claims20
A programmable system for a munition, the system comprising:
- an electroacoustic transducer on the munition and arranged to receive an acoustic signal comprising data after the munition has been launched and has entered a body of water, and to convert the acoustic signal into an electrical signal representative of the acoustic signal and the data;
- and
- a processor on the munition configured to
- receive and process the electrical signal to obtain the data, and
- use the data to program a fuze of the munition with criteria, wherein the criteria provides one or more conditions which, upon being met, cause the fuse to be triggered with a triggering signal separate from the programming of the criteria.
A programming method for a fuze of a munition, the method comprising:
- receiving an acoustic signal comprising data at the munition after the munition has been launched and has entered a body of water, and converting the acoustic signal into an electrical signal representative of the acoustic signal and the data;
- receiving and processing the electrical signal on the munition to obtain the data;
- and
- using the data to program the fuze within the munition with criteria, wherein the criteria provides one or more conditions which, upon being met, cause the fuse to be triggered with a triggering signal separate from the programming of the criteria, wherein the criteria is based on one or more environmental conditions of the body of water around the munition.
A programmable fuze system for a munition, the system comprising:
- a first electroacoustic transducer on the munition and arranged to receive a first acoustic signal comprising data after the munition has been launched and has entered a body of water, and to convert the first acoustic signal into a first electrical signal representative of the first acoustic signal and the data;
- a processor on the munition configured to receive and process the first electrical signal to obtain the data, and
- use the data to program a fuze of the munition with criteria, wherein the criteria provides one or more conditions which, upon being met, cause the fuse to be triggered with a triggering signal separate from the programming of the criteria, and
- wherein the criteria is based on one or more environmental conditions of the body of water around the munition;
- and
- a second electroacoustic transducer, arranged to receive a second acoustic signal, and convert the second acoustic signal into a second electrical signal representative of the second acoustic signal, the second electrical signal being used to power a part of the programmable fuze system.
