Abstract
A linear drive assembly configured for use within a power end assembly. The linear drive assembly is configured to interconnect a crankshaft and a pony rod and comprises a crosshead assembly attached to a connecting rod assembly. In one or more embodiments disclosed herein, the connecting rod assembly is configured to attach to opposite sides of the crosshead assembly so that no portion of the connecting rod assembly is disposed within an interior of a crosshead included in the crosshead assembly.
Claims19
A linear drive assembly, comprising:
- a crosshead configured to reciprocate within a guide, the crosshead defining a first through-bore;
- a wrist pin extending from a first end and a second end, wherein the wrist pin is installed within the first through-bore such that each of the first end and the second end extend from opposite sides of the first through-bore;
- a rod joined to a crankshaft, the rod comprising a first linking member and a second linking member, in which the first linking member circumscribes the first end of the wrist pin, and the second linking member circumscribes the second end of the wrist pin;
- a first retainer plate, fastened to the first end of the wrist pin, such that the first linking member is disposed between the crosshead and the first retaining plate;
- and
- a second retaining plate, fastened to the second end of the wrest pin, such that the second linking member is disposed between the crosshead and the second retaining plate.
