## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of treating a bacterial infection in a patient comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a 2-amino-4-(4-bromophenyl)-6-methoxypyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile compound; wherein the bacterial infection is caused by one or more gram positive bacteria selected from the group consisting of Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, and a combination thereof; one or more gram negative bacteria selected from the group consisting of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and a combination thereof; or a combination thereof.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of treating the bacterial infection of claim 1, wherein the bacterial infection is caused by Bacillus cereus.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of treating the bacterial infection of claim 1, wherein the bacterial infection is caused by Staphylococcus aureus.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of treating the bacterial infection of claim 1, wherein the bacterial infection is caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of treating the bacterial infection of claim 1, wherein the bacterial infection is caused by Escherichia coli.
