Illumination system and method for maintaining a common illumination value on a release command sent from a keypad

A method to control an output parameter of each of a plurality of illumination devices comprising:

• receiving, by electric load control circuitry, an input that includes:
• an actuation start;
• an actuation end;
• and
• an actuation duration between the actuation start and the actuation end;
• responsive to receipt of the actuation start:
• causing, by the electric load control circuitry, a communication of a first signal to the plurality of illumination devices, wherein the first signal includes an instruction to begin to change an output parameter of the illumination device from a current output parameter;
• and
• retrieving, by the electric load control circuitry from memory circuitry, data representative of the current output parameter value of each of the plurality of illumination devices;
• and
• responsive to receipt of the actuation end:
• determining, by the electric load control circuitry, a target output parameter value of each of the plurality of illumination devices based on the current output parameter value and the actuation duration;
• causing, by the electric load control circuitry, a storage of the determined target output parameter value as the current output parameter value in the memory circuitry;
• and
• causing, by the electric load control circuitry, communication of a second signal to the plurality of illumination devices, wherein the second signal includes data indicative of the determined target output parameter value to the plurality of illumination devices, such that the plurality of illumination devices reach the target output parameter value no later than a masking interval after the receipt of the actuation end.

A non-transitory, machine-readable, storage device that includes instructions that, when executed by electric load control circuitry to control an output parameter of each of a plurality of illumination devices, cause the electric load control circuitry to:

• receive an input that includes:
• an actuation start;
• an actuation end;
• and
• an actuation duration between the actuation start and the actuation end;
• responsive to receipt of the actuation start:
• cause a communication of a first signal to the plurality of illumination devices, wherein the first signal includes an instruction to begin to change an output parameter of the illumination device from a current output parameter;
• and
• retrieve, from memory circuitry, data representative of the current output parameter value of each of the plurality of illumination devices;
• and
• responsive to receipt of the actuation end:
• determine a target output parameter value of each of the plurality of illumination devices based on the current output parameter value and the actuation duration;
• cause a storage of the determined target output parameter value as the current output parameter value in the memory circuitry;
• and
• cause communication of a second signal to the plurality of illumination devices, wherein the second signal includes data indicative of the determined target output parameter value to the plurality of illumination devices, such that the plurality of illumination devices reach the target output parameter value no later than a masking interval after the receipt of the actuation end.
