Abstract
Various embodiments of present invention provide systems, methods, and computer-program products containing executable code for processing a package for shipping with a common carrier. Various embodiments include a wireless computing device that may be one of several types of devices such as smartphones, mobile telephones, mobile computers, portable digital assistants, laptop computers, gaming devices, electronic tablets, or other types of similar devices that may be used to facilitate the shipping and expedited tracking of objects having a tracking number via multimedia capture and processing.
Claims20
A system comprising a wireless computing device configured to:
- read using a multimedia capturing device of the wireless computing device a tracking number for shipping a package;
- and
- transmit the tracking number and a shipper identifier in response to determining that the tracking number is valid to a communication device of a common carrier prior to the common carrier taking possession of the package, wherein transmitting the tracking number and the shipper identifier causes the tracking number to be associated with a common carrier account associated with a shipper.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising executable code, that when executed by at least one processor of a wireless computing device causes the wireless computing device to:
- read using a multimedia capturing device of the wireless computing device a tracking number for shipping a package;
- and
- transmit the tracking number and a shipper identifier in response to determining that the tracking number is valid to a communication device of a common carrier prior to the common carrier taking possession of the package, wherein transmitting the tracking number and the shipper identifier causes the tracking number to be associated with a common carrier account associated with a shipper.
A method comprising:
- reading using a multimedia capturing device of a wireless computing device a tracking number for shipping a package;
- and
- transmitting the tracking number and a shipper identifier in response to determining that the tracking number is valid to a communication device of a common carrier prior to the common carrier taking possession of the package, wherein transmitting the tracking number and the shipper identifier causes the tracking number to be associated with a common carrier account associated with a shipper.
