Harvesting system and method for bottom-dwelling marine organisms

A method for harvesting bottom-dwelling marine organisms from a seabed, comprising the following steps:

• lowering a harvesting unit from a vessel via a towing and launching system down to the seabed;
• sucking up bottom-dwelling marine organisms via one or more suction nozzles directed towards the seabed using one or more pumps that are arranged in the harvesting unit;
• separating bottom-dwelling marine organisms from bycatch and foreign bodies using sorting devices;
• passing the bottom-dwelling marine organisms to a collecting unit;
• towing the harvesting unit along the seabed by means of the towing and launching system, and further,
• controlling and adjusting the position of the suction nozzles, the position of the harvesting unit relative to the seabed and required suction force or flow from the pumps as a function of the harvesting rate.
