Abstract
The present invention relates to nutritional compositions comprising 6′-sialyllactose (6′SL) and lacto-N-tetraose (LNT) for use in improving the gastrointestinal barrier. In particular, the present invention relates to improving gut barrier function in an infant, a young child or children aged above 3 years to 8 years.
Claims12
A method of improving a gastrointestinal barrier in an infant, young child or child, the method comprising administering a nutritional composition comprising 6′-sialyllactose (6′SL) and lacto-N-tetraose (LNT) to the infant, young child or child,
- wherein the improving the gastrointestinal barrier comprises at least one of improving barrier structure and/or improving barrier protection,
- wherein the nutritional composition has at least one formulation that is:
- (i) the nutritional composition does not contain DFL and does not contain 3-FL, and/or (ii) the nutritional composition does not contain LNnT, and/or (iii) the nutritional composition does not contain 3′-SL.
