Abstract
A method of locating code image zones in an output image of a code bearing object (14), wherein first candidates for code image zones are determined in a first segmentation process using a process of classical image processing without machine learning and second candidates for code image zones are determined in a second segmentation process using machine learning, with the first and second candidates being fused to locate the code image zones.
Claims22
A computer implemented method of locating code image zones in an output image of a code bearing object, comprising:
- generating the output image using at least one light receiver element to image the code bearing object;
- determining first candidates for the code image zones in a first segmentation process using a process of classical image processing without machine learning;
- determining second candidates for the code image zones in a second segmentation process using machine learning;
- and
- fusing the first and second candidates to locate the code image zones.
An optoelectronic code reader, comprising:
- at least one light receiver element for generating image data from received light from a code bearing object;
- and
- a control and evaluation unit configured for:
- determining first candidates for code image zones in the image data in a first segmentation process using a process of classical image processing without machine learning;
- determining second candidates for the code image zones in a second segmentation process using machine learning;
- and
- fusing the first and second candidates to locate the code image zones.
