Abstract
According to one embodiment, a camera module includes a liquid crystal panel, an image sensor and an optical system. The liquid crystal panel is configured to display a coded aperture pattern. The optical system is interposed between the liquid crystal panel and the image sensor. The liquid crystal panel includes a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules and dichroic dye molecules aligned following the liquid crystal molecules.
Claims6
A camera module comprising:
- a liquid crystal panel that displays a coded aperture pattern;
- an image sensor;
- and
- an optical system interposed between the liquid crystal panel and the image sensor,
- wherein the liquid crystal panel includes a liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules and dichroic dye molecules aligned following the liquid crystal molecules, without a polarizer,
- the liquid crystal panel has a light control area which is circular shape,
- the light control area has area divided concentric and radial direction, and an annular portion which is not divided and located at the outermost periphery of the light control area,
- the coded aperture pattern displayed in the light control area has a light shielding area and a light transmissive area, and
- the image sensor captures a blurred image through the coded aperture pattern to calculate distance.
