Methods and apparatus to mitigate hard-braking events

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed, cause a vehicle to at least:

• identify a hazard based on:
• wireless communications with another entity;
• and
• at least one sensor of the vehicle;
• determine whether a trajectory avoids both the hazard and a hard brake event, the determination based on:
• a likelihood of collision between the vehicle and the hazard;
• a level of an injury expected from the collision;
• and
• an ability of a driver of the vehicle to avoid the injury;
• and
• in response to a determination that the trajectory avoids both the hazard and the hard brake event, cause a change in a speed of the vehicle or a change in direction of the vehicle to implement the trajectory.

A vehicle comprising:

• at least one sensor;
• at least one vehicle brake;
• a motor;
• wireless communication circuitry to communicate with another vehicle;
• controller circuitry to:
• identify a hazard based on:
• wireless communications with another entity;
• and
• the at least one sensor;
• determine whether a trajectory avoids both the hazard and a hard brake event, the determination based on:
• a likelihood of collision between the vehicle and the hazard;
• a level of an injury expected from the collision;
• and
• an ability of a driver of the vehicle to avoid the injury;
• and
• in response to a determination that the trajectory avoids both the hazard and the hard brake event, cause a change in a speed of the vehicle or a change in direction of the vehicle to implement the trajectory.
