Abstract
A non-invasive control system for neuromuscular stimulation includes an eye-tracking device, an electrical stimulation device, and software that interprets the eye movements of the user to determine an intended movement and sends electrical signal(s) to the stimulation device to achieve the intended movement. For example, the stimulation device may be a sleeve with electrodes worn on a paralyzed limb, with the intended movement being the movement of the limb.
Claims14
A method of moving a target, comprising:
- tracking eye movement of a user;
- based on the eye movement, determining a desired movement of the target and a desired degree of motion of the target;
- and
- delivering an electrical signal to the target to obtain the desired movement of the target;
- wherein the user looks at a particular icon of a plurality of icons representing movement options presented on a graphical interface to indicate the desired movement;
- and
- wherein the user stares at the particular icon to indicate the desired degree of motion of the target as a time spent staring at the icon or the user looks at a scale presented on the graphical interface to indicate the desired degree of motion of the target.

A method of moving a target, comprising:
- tracking eye movement of a user;
- based on the eye movement, determining a desired movement of the target;
- and
- delivering an electrical signal to the target to obtain the desired movement of the target;
- wherein the user looks at the target whose movement is desired and in response a graphical interface presents a plurality of icons on the graphical interface representing movement options and the user looks at a particular icon of the plurality of icons representing the movement options to indicate the desired movement of the target.
2 more elements
A system for moving a target, comprising:
- an eye tracking device;
- a neuromuscular electrical stimulation sleeve;
- and
- a computer that receives eye movement comprising at least one eye movement signal from the eye tracking device as input, and is programmed to perform artifact removal on the at least one eye movement signal to remove artifacts including detecting an artifact in the at least one eye movement signal caused by operation of the neuromuscular electrical stimulation sleeve and removing a time window of data around the detected artifact, and determine a desired movement of the body limb based on the at least one eye movement signal after artifact removal, and output an electrical signal to the neuromuscular electrical stimulation sleeve to obtain the desired movement.
