Abstract
The object is to provide a skin whitening agent having an excellent skin whitening effect. A compound expressed by the following Formula (1), or an acid addition salt thereof is used as an active ingredient of the skin whitening agent: wherein, X represents an alkylene group having 1 to 2 carbon atoms, where a hydrogen atom may be substituted with a methyl group; Y represents COOR1 or CH2OR2; R1 represents a hydrogen atom, or an optionally branched alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an optionally branched acyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.

A method of skin whitening comprising:
- applying an agent comprising a compound expressed by the following Formula (1), or an acid addition salt thereof:
- (wherein, X represents an alkylene group having 1 to 2 carbon atoms, where a hydrogen atom may be substituted with a methyl group;
- Y represents COOR1 or CH2OR2;
- R1 represents a hydrogen atom, or an optionally branched alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms;
- and R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an optionally branched acyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms).
