Abstract
Methods, systems, and apparatus for monitoring and controlling electronic devices using wired and wireless protocols are disclosed. The systems and apparatus may monitor their environment for signals from electronic devices. The systems and apparatus may take and disambiguate the signals that are received from the devices in their environment to identify the devices and associate control signals with the devices. The systems and apparatus may use communication means to send control signals to the identified electronic devices. Multiple apparatuses or systems may be connected together into networks, including mesh networks, to make for a more robust architecture.
Claims19
A mesh network comprising a plurality of interconnected communication apparatuses, each communication apparatus comprising:
- at least one processor;
- a memory coupled to the at least one processor;
- a communication port coupled to the at least one processor;
- the communication port providing communication between the apparatus and at least one electronic device;
- the communication port also providing communication between the communication apparatus and other ones of the communication apparatuses in the mesh network;
- and
- wherein each communication apparatus is capable of identifying other communication apparatuses to which it is connected in the mesh network and wherein each communication apparatus is configured to:
- record signal noise from the at least one electronic device connected to the communication apparatus, wherein the recorded signal noise includes a waveform associated with the at least one electronic device;
- transmit the recorded signal noise to a remote device;
- receive, from the remote device, an identification of a unique device waveform in the recorded signal noise;
- and
- facilitate identification of the at least one of the electronic device based on comparing the identification of the unique device waveform to an entry in a database.
