Abstract
A preform can be made from two different materials that do not bond together by a bi-injection process, using the same mold. First an outer preform can be fashioned first, then an inner preform molded through a center hole in the outer preform, and the preforms connected. Inner/outer preform materials can be different, e.g., PET/polyolefin or polyamide, or the same, e.g., PET/PET. To prevent mutual bonding during molding of the second, a non-stick coating can be sprayed on a surface portion of the first preform prior to molding, the second. Manufacturing order can be either outer/inner, or inner/outer, and the non-stick coating sprayed on the inside/outside of the perform first molded.
Claims19
A pre-form for a liquid dispensing device, comprising:
- an inner layer;
- and
- an outer layer,
- a top portion of the inner layer connected to a top portion of the outer layer;
- the inner layer comprising a first protrusion from a bottom surface of the inner layer that extends, through an opening in a bottom surface of the outer layer, through the entire thickness of the outer layer and beyond the bottom surface of the outer layer, the first protrusion including a flattened end portion so as to provide a bottom connection between the inner layer and the outer layer,
- the inner layer further comprising an integrally molded pusher, being a second protrusion from its bottom surface, the pusher configured to push the bottom surface of the inner layer upwards when pressure is applied to an exposed distal end of the pusher by a user, to separate the inner layer from the outer layer.
A pre-form for a liquid dispensing device, comprising:
- an inner layer;
- and
- an outer layer,
- a top portion of the inner layer connected to a top portion of the outer layer;
- the inner layer comprising a protrusion from a bottom surface of the inner layer that extends, through an opening in a bottom surface of the outer layer, through the entire thickness of the outer layer and beyond the bottom surface of the outer layer, the protrusion including a flattened end portion so as to provide a bottom connection between the inner layer and the outer layer,
- wherein the inner layer is provided with an integrally molded pusher protruding from its bottom surface, to push the bottom surface of the inner layer upwards when pressure is applied to a distal end of the pusher by a user, to separate the inner layer from the outer layer, and
- wherein the opening in the bottom surface of the outer layer is a first opening, wherein the bottom surface of the outer layer further comprises a second opening, and wherein the integrally molded pusher protrudes from the bottom surface of the inner layer through the second opening of the outer layer.
A pre-form for a liquid dispensing device, comprising:
- an inner layer;
- and
- an outer layer,
- a top portion of the inner layer connected to a top portion of the outer layer;
- the inner layer comprising a protrusion from a bottom surface of the inner layer that extends, through an opening in a bottom surface of the outer layer, through the entire thickness of the outer layer and beyond the bottom surface of the outer layer, the protrusion including a flattened end portion so as to provide a bottom connection between the inner layer and the outer layer,
- wherein the bottom surface of the inner layer includes a flattened portion and further includes an integrally molded pusher protruding downwards from the flattened portion, the pusher configured to push the bottom surface of the inner layer upwards to separate the inner layer from the outer layer, when pressure is applied to a bottom portion of the pusher by a user.
