Abstract
The disclosure includes a method of diagnosing a grounding system of a structure that includes a charge collecting structure conductively connected to the ground via a grounding path, where diagnosing involves an act of monitoring output of a voltage and/or a current and/or an electrostatic detector connected to the grounding path.

A method comprising diagnosing a grounding system of a wind turbine generator comprising (i) a first blade as a first charge collecting structure conductively connected to a ground via a grounding path and (ii) a second blade as a second charge collecting structure connected to the ground via the grounding path, wherein the diagnosing involves an act of monitoring by comparing a first output of a first electrostatic detector connected to the first charge collecting structure to a second output of a second electrostatic detector connected to the second charge collecting structure.
A wind turbine generator (WTG) comprising a tower, a nacelle, blades, sensor nodes and a grounding system along a grounding path, wherein
- the sensor nodes are positioned along the grounding path and along an incorrect grounding path;
- wherein the sensor nodes comprise voltage detectors and/or current detectors and/or electrostatic detectors, and
- wherein the blades comprise neutral brushes at grounding path critical transitions and voltage values between sensors nodes along the grounding path and along an incorrect grounding path are compared.
A method comprising diagnosing a grounding system of a wind turbine generator comprising a first blade as a first charge collecting structure conductively connected to a ground via a grounding path, wherein the diagnosing involves an act of monitoring by comparing a first output of a first electrostatic detector connected to the first charge collecting structure to a second output of a second electrostatic detector connected to a second blade as second charge collecting structure of a second wind turbine generator.
A method comprising diagnosing a grounding system of a wind turbine generator comprising a first blade as a first charge collecting structure conductively connected to a ground via a grounding path, wherein the diagnosing involves an act of monitoring by comparing a first output of a first electrostatic detector connected to the first charge collecting structure to a reference value that corresponds to blades of the same type as the first blade.
