Abstract
A nitrogen activator additive to stabilize nitrogen fertilizer, where the activator is coated onto the nitrogen fertilizer, is provided. The nitrogen activator additive contains the novel compound ABT-PNB, a potassium compound, and chitosan, and provides controlled release of the nitrogen fertilizer which fertilizes crops using reduced levels of the nitrogen fertilizer and reduces the release of greenhouse gasses. Urea is an exemplary nitrogen fertilizer that can be used in this regard.
Claims16
A nitrogen activator stabilizer fertilizer (NASF1) composition, the composition comprising a coated slow-release fertilizer composition comprising:
- a core comprising a nitrogen-based fertilizer;
- and
- at least one coating layer surrounding the core, wherein the at least one coating layer comprise a potassium compound, chitosan, and 2-(1-(4-(dimethylamino)butyl)-8-((2-ethoxy-2-oxoethyl)thio)-6-oxo-6,9-dihydro-1H-purin-2-yl)-6-nitrobenzoic acid (ABT-PNB), with the ABT-PNB having the following structure:
