Wickless vaporizing devices and methods

A self-cleaning hand-held vaporizer, comprising:

• an elongate body having a mouthpiece;
• a reservoir configured to contain a vaporizable fluid;
• an atomizer within the elongate body configured to form a vapor from the vaporizable fluid, the atomizer comprising:
• a heating element;
• a draw sensor configured to detect a user drawing on the mouthpiece;
• and
• a controller configured to control the heating element and to initiate a self-cleaning cycle during a period when the draw sensor does not detect a user drawing on the mouthpiece, the self-cleaning cycle including controlling the heating element to increase in temperature to a self-cleaning temperature that is greater than approximately 300° Celsius (C) for a self-cleaning period of time that is greater than approximately 30 seconds.
