## Abstract

An image transmission device including a content compression unit configured to compress an image signal, a wireless transmission unit configured to wirelessly transmit the compressed image signal to an image reception device, and a processor configured to switch a power mode of the image transmission device to a low power mode based on a determination that an image signal is not being received from an external source or that an ambient brightness at the image reception device is less than a preset brightness, and control the content compression unit to increase a compression rate of the image signal in the low power mode.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An image transmission device comprising: a content compression unit configured to compress an image signal; a wireless transmission unit configured to wirelessly transmit the compressed image signal to an image reception device; and a processor configured to: switch a power mode of the image transmission device to a low power mode based on a determination that an image signal is not being received from an external source; and control the content compression unit to increase a compression rate of the image signal in the low power mode, wherein an image signal corresponding to a background image is transmitted to the image reception device when the image signal is not being received, and is subject for increasing the compression rate.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The image transmission device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to control the wireless transmission unit to reduce a transmission power consumed in transmitting the image signal.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The image transmission device of claim 2, wherein the processor is further configured to adjust an arrangement angle of a radio frequency (RF) antenna included in the wireless transmission unit to reduce the transmit power.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The image transmission device of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured to transmit a power mode switch request message to the image reception device through the wireless transmission unit requesting the image reception device to switch to a low power mode.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The image transmission device of claim 1, further comprising a signal input interface and a signal discrimination unit, wherein the signal discrimination unit determines whether the image signal is being received from an external source based on a signal output by the signal input interface.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The image transmission device of claim 5, further comprising a memory storing a data table comprising compression rates corresponding to various ambient brightness levels.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The image transmission device of claim 6, wherein the compression rate for the content compression unit is determined based on the stored data table using an ambient brightness at the image reception device.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The image transmission device of claim 1, wherein the wireless transmission unit comprises:
one or more RF antennas configured to transmit the compressed image signal to the image reception device through RF communication; and
a Bluetooth module for bi-directional communication with the image reception device.
