## CPC

- H04L 67/02: based on web technology, e.g. hypertext transfer protocol [HTTP]
- H04L 69/165: Combined use of TCP and UDP protocols; selection criteria therefor
- H04L 67/56: Provisioning of proxy services (store-and-forward switching systems in data switching networks H04L12/54)
- H04L: TRANSMISSION OF DIGITAL INFORMATION, e.g. TELEGRAPHIC COMMUNICATION (arrangements common to telegraphic and telephonic communication H04M)

## Abstract

Methods and systems are disclosed for network communication. A computing device may store status information. The status information may be communicated using a first protocol. The status information may indicate data is available. The data may be communicated using a second protocol.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method comprising:
determining, based on a communication failure associated with at least one of a first server or a second server, a polling frequency;
polling, by a computing device via a connectionless protocol and at the polling frequency, the first server to determine availability of data associated with the computing device;
receiving, via the connectionless protocol and from the first server, an indication that there is data available to the computing device;
sending, to the second server and via a reliable protocol, a request for the available data; and
receiving, via the reliable protocol, the available data.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the receiving the available data comprises receiving the available data from the second server.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises an unreliable protocol.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the reliable protocol comprises Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the reliable protocol comprises at least one of an acknowledgement-based protocol or a connection-based protocol.

### Claim 7

A device comprising:
one or more processors; and
memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the device to:
determine, based on a communication failure associated with at least one of a first server or a second server, a polling frequency;
poll, by the device via a connectionless protocol and at the polling frequency, the first server to determine availability of data associated with the device;
receive, via the connectionless protocol and from the first server, an indication that there is data available to the device;
send, to the second server and via a reliable protocol, a request for the available data; and
receive, via the reliable protocol, the available data.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The device of claim 7, wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the device to receive the available data from the second server.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The device of claim 7, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The device of claim 7, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises an unreliable protocol.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The device of claim 7, wherein the reliable protocol comprises Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The device of claim 7, wherein the reliable protocol comprises at least one of an acknowledgement-based protocol or a connection-based protocol.

### Claim 13

A system comprising:
a first server device;
a second server device; and
a computing device configured to:
determine, based on a communication failure associated with at least one of a first server or a second server, a polling frequency;
poll, via a connectionless protocol and at the polling frequency, the first server to determine availability of data associated with the computing device;
receive, via the connectionless protocol and from the first server, an indication that there is data available to the computing device;
send, to the second server and via a reliable protocol, a request for the available data; and
receive, via the reliable protocol, the available data.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The system of claim 13, wherein the computing device is further configured to receive the available data from the second server.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The system of claim 13, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

The system of claim 13, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises an unreliable protocol.

### Claim 17 (depends on 13)

The system of claim 13, wherein the reliable protocol comprises Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).

### Claim 18 (depends on 13)

The system of claim 13, wherein the reliable protocol comprises at least one of an acknowledgement-based protocol or a connection-based protocol.

### Claim 19

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause:
determining, based on a communication failure associated with at least one of a first server or a second server, a polling frequency;
polling, by a computing device via a connectionless protocol and at the polling frequency, the first server to determine availability of data associated with the computing device;
receiving, via the connectionless protocol and from the first server, an indication that there is data available to the computing device;
sending, to the second server and via a reliable protocol, a request for the available data; and
receiving, via the reliable protocol, the available data.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause receiving the available data from the second server.

### Claim 21 (depends on 19)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises User Datagram Protocol (UDP).

### Claim 22 (depends on 19)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the connectionless protocol comprises an unreliable protocol.

### Claim 23 (depends on 19)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the reliable protocol comprises Transmission Control Protocol (TCP).

### Claim 24 (depends on 19)

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the reliable protocol comprises at least one of an acknowledgement-based protocol or a connection-based protocol.
