Probe assembly for a cooking appliance

A probe assembly for a cooking appliance, the probe assembly comprising:

• an outer case including a cap, a body, and retention features coupled to each of the cap and the body;
• a first temperature sensor operably coupled to the cap of the outer case;
• a probe operably coupled to the body of the outer case and selectively concealed by the cap;
• a second temperature sensor operably coupled to the probe;
• and
• a controller communicatively coupled to each of the first temperature sensor and the second temperature sensor, the controller being configured to receive a first signal from the first temperature sensor when the cap is directly coupled to the body of the outer case.

A cooking appliance, comprising:

• a housing including a user interface and defining a cooking cavity;
• a probe assembly disposed within the cooking cavity, the probe assembly including:
• a body including a probe and a first retention feature;
• a cap including a second retention feature and removably coupled to the body, the cap including a first temperature sensor and the probe of the body including a second temperature sensor;
• and
• a control unit communicatively coupled to the first temperature sensor of the cap;
• and
• a controller communicatively coupled to the user interface and the control unit of the probe assembly and configured to display temperature data on the user interface.
