Provided herein are compositions and methods for the inhibition of endothelial cell kinesin light chain 1, variant 1 (KLC1C) expression and/or activity, and treatment or prevention of inflammation therewith.

A method of inhibiting transendothelial migration (TEM) of leukocytes within a subject comprising administering to endothelial cells of the subject an effective amount of a peptide comprising a sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 4 and a cell-penetrating peptide sequence.
