## Abstract

A method and apparatus for gas and solids separation from down-hole fluids is disclosed, including particular structural means for forcing the de-gassing of the gaseous liquid, including means for changing the velocity of the gaseous liquid (speed changes on each exit from the tubes owing to the volume difference between the tubes and the chamber), means for changing the direction of the gaseous liquid (owing to the flow changing direction from exiting one set of tubes to travel to the opening to enter the next set of tubes), and means for changing the pressure of the gaseous liquid (owing perhaps in part to evolution of gas upon entering increased volume).

## Claims

### Claim 1

An apparatus for separating of gas from a fluid in a wellbore, comprising:
a first pipe configured to be disposed in a wellbore and define a wellbore annulus between the first pipe and the wellbore;
a second pipe disposed in the first pipe, an inner annulus defined between the first pipe and the second pipe;
a plurality of production separation chambers disposed in the first pipe;
an orifice in an upper portion of each of the plurality of production separation chambers, the orifice configured to open into the wellbore annulus;
one or more solids management tubes, the one or more solids management tubes having a top open end near a floor or lower portion of one of the production separation chambers and extending downward into a next lower production separation chamber; and
thief jet orifices in the second pipe, each thief jet orifice positioned near a bottom of a respective production separation chamber and opening into the inner annulus,
wherein the thief jet orifices restrict flow of the fluid to remove gas bubbles from the fluid.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein each of the thief jet orifices is configured to restrict liquids flowing into the second pipe at a rate less than a flow rate in which gas bubbles out of the fluid prior to entering the thief jet orifice.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein each thief jet orifice is sized to restrict downward velocity draw of the fluid within each production separation chamber to a rate less than six inches per second.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the second pipe is 316 stainless steel.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first pipe is between two and three-eights inches to three and one-half inches in diameter.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the thief jet orifices of the second pipe in lower production separation chambers are larger than the thief jet orifices of the second pipe in higher production separation chambers.

### Claim 7

An apparatus for separating of gas from fluids in a wellbore, comprising:
a first pipe in the wellbore and defining a wellbore annulus between the first pipe and the wellbore;
a second pipe disposed in the first pipe and defining an inner annulus between the second pipe and the first pipe;
a plurality of production separation chambers disposed in the first pipe;
an orifice in an upper portion of each of the plurality of production separation chambers, the orifice opening into the wellbore annulus; and
thief jet orifices in the second pipe, each thief jet orifice positioned near a bottom of a respective production separation chamber and opening into the inner annulus; and
a tube extending through the plurality of production separation chambers, the tube having orifices within the plurality of production separation chambers and an upper opening disposed above the plurality of production separation chambers,
wherein the thief jet orifices restrict flow of the fluid to remove gas bubbles from the fluid.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the thief jet orifices are configured to restrict liquids flowing into the second pipe at a rate less than a flow rate in which gas bubbles out of the fluid prior to entering the thief jet orifice.
