Filter elements, air cleaner assemblies, and methods of use and assembly

An air cleaner assembly comprising:

• a) an openable cleaner housing defining an interior having a radial cavity, the housing including a first plurality of axially extending ribs arranged about a first side of an outlet structure of the housing and a second plurality of axially extending ribs arranged about a second side of the outlet structure;
• b) a first air filter cartridge and a second air filter cartridge, each of the first and second air filter cartridges being removably disposed within the radial cavity and including:
• filter media extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite first and second ends, the filter media defining an open interior volume and an outer perimeter;
• an open end cap disposed at the filter media first end;
• a closed end cap disposed at the filter media second end;
• a seal arrangement disposed on the open end cap, the seal arrangement having a profile varying in an axial direction between a first radial plane and a second radial plane, wherein first portions of the seal arrangement are disposed at a first axial position and second portions of the seal arrangement are disposed at a second axial position, the first and second portions being separated by a first height and being interconnected by sloped intermediate portions, wherein edges of the first portion most remote from the closed end cap extend along the first radial plane while edges of the second portion most proximate the closed end cap extend along the second radial plane, wherein the first and second radial planes extend orthogonally with respect to the longitudinal axis and are separated by a second height, wherein at least a portion of the seal arrangement is either disposed within the filter media open interior volume or about the filter media outer perimeter;
• and
• a plurality of axially extending channels disposed within the open end cap and extending through the first radial plane defined by the seal arrangement first portions,
• c) wherein the plurality of axially extending channels of the first air filter cartridge are disposed within a radially inward side of the open end cap of the first air filter cartridge and are engaged with the first plurality of axially extending ribs of the housing;
• and
• d) wherein the plurality of axially extending channels of the second air filter cartridge are disposed within a radially outward side of the open end cap of the second air filter cartridge and are engaged with the second plurality of axially extending ribs of the housing.

An air filter cartridge comprising:

• a) filter media extending along a longitudinal axis between opposite first and second ends, the filter media defining an open interior volume and an outer perimeter;
• b) an open end cap disposed at the filter media first end;
• c) a seal arrangement disposed on the open end cap, the seal arrangement having a profile varying in an axial direction between a first radial plane and a second radial plane;
• and
• d) a ring structure embedded within a material of the end cap, the ring structure including a plurality of circumferentially spaced extensions that extend through the material in a direction away from the filter media first end to a distal end that is axially beyond the first and second radial planes.
