Abstract
Intravascular devices, systems, and methods are disclosed. In some instances, the intravascular device is a guide wire with electrical conductors embedded within a core wire. In some instances, the electrical conductors are coupled to conductive bands adjacent a proximal portion of the guide wire and a sensing element adjacent a distal portion of the guide wire. Methods of making, manufacturing, and/or assembling such intravascular devices and associated systems are also provided.
Claims13
An apparatus, comprising:
- an intravascular guide wire sized and shaped to be inserted into a blood vessel of a patient, the intravascular guide wire comprising:
- a sensing element configured to measure a characteristic associated with the blood vessel while positioned inside the blood vessel;
- and
- a cross-section comprising:
- an outer perimeter of an electrical conductor coupled to the sensing element;
- an inner perimeter of an insulating layer and an outer perimeter of the insulating layer;
- and
- an inner perimeter of a core wire and an outer perimeter of the core wire,
- wherein the outer perimeter of the core wire comprises a closed shape,
- wherein the inner perimeter of the insulating layer is in contact with the outer perimeter of the electrical conductor and the inner perimeter of the core wire is in contact with the outer perimeter of the insulating layer such that the cross-section is solid within the closed shape of the outer perimeter of the core wire.
