Abstract
Device assisted CDR creation, aggregation, mediation and billing is provided. In some embodiments, device assisted CDR creation, aggregation, mediation and billing for a wireless network includes collecting device generated service usage information for one or more devices in wireless communication on the wireless network; and providing the device generated service usage information in a syntax (e.g., a device assisted charging data record (CDR)) and a communication protocol (e.g., 3GPP, 3GPP2, or other communication protocols) that can be used by other network devices to augment or replace network generated service usage information for the one or more devices in wireless communication on the wireless network.
Claims20
A network device of a wireless network, the network device comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions;
- the processor configured to execute the instructions to:
- securely communicate through a communication channel with a service processor of a wireless device operating on the wireless network;
- obtain, from the service processor over the communication channel, device-generated wireless network service usage data, the device-generated wireless network service usage data comprising a first service usage data associated with a first application on the wireless device and a second service usage data associated with a second application on the wireless device;
- generate a first charging data records (CDR) for the wireless device relating to the first service usage data associated with the first application on the wireless device;
- generate a second CDR for the wireless device relating to the second service usage data associated with the second application on the wireless device;
- and
- communicate the first CDR and the second CDR to a wireless network operator.
A method for use by a network device of a wireless network, the method comprising:
- securely communicating through a communication channel with a service processor of a wireless device operating on the wireless network;
- obtaining, from the service processor over the communication channel, device-generated wireless network service usage data, the device-generated wireless network service usage data comprising a first service usage data associated with a first application on the wireless device and a second service usage data associated with a second application on the wireless device;
- generating a first charging data records (CDR) for the wireless device relating to the first service usage data associated with the first application on the wireless device;
- generating a second CDR for the wireless device relating to the second service usage data associated with the second application on the wireless device;
- and
- communicating the first CDR and the second CDR to a wireless network operator.
