Abstract
Solid rinsing, cleaning and/or sanitizing compositions for various applications are provided. In particular, solid compositions include a complex of urea and an acid having desirable storage stability previously unavailable in solid urea/acid compositions. Stable solid compositions are disclosed and methods of making the same to overcome conventional limitations associated with forming kinetically and thermodynamically stable solids that utilize urea/acid compositions.
Claims14
A stabilized solid composition comprising:
- a preformed solid complex comprising a urea solidification matrix and an acid, wherein the urea and the acid in the solid complex are in a molar ratio from about 1:3 to about 3:1, wherein the acid is a solid or liquid organic acid and comprises at least one of:
- monosodium citrate, aspartic acid, and glutamic acid;
- and
- a quaternary ammonium compound having the formula:
- wherein groups R1, R2, R3, and R4 each have less than a C20 chain length, X− is an anionic counteranion selected from the group consisting of chloride, bromide, propionate, methosulphate, saccharinate, ethosulphate, hydroxide, acetate, phosphate, carbonate and nitrate, and wherein the composition is a solid that is soluble in water, and has a pH of about 2 and about 6 in a use solution.
A stabilized solid composition comprising:
- a solid complex comprising a co-crystallized urea solidification matrix and an organic acid, wherein the urea and the organic acid in the solid complex are in a molar ratio from about 1:3 to about 3:1;
- and
- wherein the organic acid comprises at least one of:
- monosodium citrate, aspartic acid, and glutamic acid;
- wherein the composition is a solid that is soluble in water, has a pH of about 2 to about 6 in a use solution, and provides efficient sheeting performance without resulting in spotting and/or filming.
