Visual disorder treatment

A system for maintaining user visual attention during a treatment of a visual disorder, the system comprising:

• at least one display apparatus configured to present treatment content for the treatment of the disorder to a user;
• and
• a processor configured to execute instructions stored on a memory, the instructions, when executed by the processor, configuring the processor to:
• measure at least one user parameter while the treatment content is presented to the user;
• determine whether the user is engaged with the treatment content based on the at least one measured user parameter;
• and
• output to the at least one display apparatus an attention booster to the user upon determining the user is not engaged with the treatment content to re-engage the user's attention on the treatment content,
• wherein the attention booster is independent from the treatment content in such a manner that the attention booster is not influenced by the treatment content, and
• wherein the attention booster comprises a visual object that is overlaid on the treatment content to at least partially occlude the treatment content.

A method for maintaining user visual attention during a treatment of a visual disorder, the method comprising:

• presenting, by a processor, treatment content for the treatment of the disorder to a user via at least one display screen;
• and
• presenting, by the processor, an attention booster to the user at time-based intervals to re-engage the user's attention on the treatment content based on the processor determining that the user is not engaged with the treatment content,
• wherein the attention booster is independent from the treatment content in such a manner that the attention booster is not influenced by the treatment content, and
• wherein the attention booster comprises a visual object that is overlaid on the treatment content to at least partially occlude the treatment content.
