A method for producing a carbodiimide compound, comprising

• a carbodiimide production step of reacting an aliphatic tertiary isocyanate compound (A) in the presence of
• an inorganic alkali metal compound (B), and
• at least one of a phase transfer catalyst (C), a compound (D-1) represented by the following general formula (2-1), and a compound (D-2) represented by the following general formula (2-2):
• wherein Z is a methyl group, an ethyl group, a propyl group, a butyl group, or a phenyl group;
• R2 is an alkylene group having 2 to 3 carbon atoms;
• and n is an integer of 2 to 500;
• wherein R3 is an alkylene group having 2 to 3 carbon atoms;
• and p is an integer of 2 to 500.
