Abstract
A fishing reel according to an embodiment of the present disclosure has an operation portion, and is configured, where the operation portion is manipulated, to operate a first function when the fishing reel is in a first state, and a second function when the fishing reel is in a second state.

A system comprising a fishing reel having a communication portion and an operation portion, and an external device having a display, wherein as a result of the manipulation of the operation portion, a first function is performed when the fishing reel is in a first state, and a second function is performed when the fishing reel is in a second state, and
- wherein an operation result of the operation portion is sent to the external device via the communication portion, and the operation result of the operation portion is displayed on the display of the external device.
