Device and method for testing a mechanical property of a timepiece shaft

A device for testing a timepiece shaft comprising at least one first pivot and an axis of rotation, the device comprising:

• a rest comprising two supports intended to accommodate the timepiece shaft, at least one of the two supports being intended to accommodate the at least one first pivot, and
• an element for applying a mechanical force to the timepiece shaft, positioned so that the mechanical force is at least partially taken up by the support at the at least one first pivot,
• wherein the element for applying the mechanical force is arranged so that the timepiece shaft is driven in rotation by a relative movement of the element for applying a mechanical force and the rest, wherein the relative movement is a rolling movement without sliding of the timepiece shaft on the element for applying the mechanical force.
