Banding of objects with tape

A banding machine including:

• a. a rotatable spool configured to travel along an orbital path, the rotatable spool being configured to bear a roll of tape thereon,
• b. a tape handling assembly including:
• (1) a rotatable first roller, the first roller being:
• (a) situated along a chord of, and
• (b) spaced from,
• the orbital path,
• (2) a first wiper movable toward and away from a first wiper wiping position at which the first wiper is configured to urge against an object to be banded by tape, the first wiper wiping position being:
• (a) situated along the chord, and
• (b) laterally spaced from the first roller in a first direction,
• (3) a second wiper movable toward and away from a second wiper wiping position at which the second wiper is configured to urge against the object to be banded by tape, the second wiper wiping position being:
• (a) situated along the chord, and
• (b) laterally spaced from the first roller in a second direction opposite the first direction,
• (4) a brake movable within the plane of the orbital path:
• (a) toward the first roller, whereby tape may be grasped between the brake and the first roller, and
• (b) away from the first roller,
• (5) a knife movable within the plane of the orbital path toward and away from a cutting space:
• (a) situated along the chord, and
• (b) adjacent the first roller,
• wherein the tape handling assembly is configured to move as a unit within the banding machine.
