Abstract
A unitized valve body for use in an automatic transmission includes a plurality of first hydraulic passages, a second hydraulic passage and a plurality of orifices. The second hydraulic passage extending through the unitized valve body and configured to be in fluid communication with a plurality of valve bores. Each orifice disposed within the unitized valve body and fluidly connecting the second hydraulic passage to a respective first hydraulic passage of the plurality of first hydraulic passages.
Claims20
A unitized valve body for use in an automatic transmission, the unitized valve body comprising:
- a hydraulic passage;
- a plurality of valve bores, each valve bore having a central bore and at least one annular chamber, the central bore disposed about an axis and configured to receive a valve, the at least one annular chamber surrounding at least a portion of the central bore in a radial direction of the axis;
- and
- a plurality of connecting passages fluidly connecting the valve bores to the hydraulic passage,
- wherein each connecting passage is defined by a radiused geometry that fluidly connects the hydraulic passage to the at least one annular chamber of a respective valve bore such that fluid flowing in the connecting passage flows radially through an outer portion of the at least one annular chamber.
A unitized valve body for use in an automatic transmission, the valve assembly comprising:
- a plurality of valve bores, each valve bore having a central bore and at least one annular chamber, the central bore disposed about an axis and configured to receive a valve, the at least one annular chamber surrounding at least a portion of the central bore in a radial direction of the axis;
- and
- a plurality of hydraulic passages;
- a plurality of first connecting passages fluidly connecting a first set of the valve bores to a first hydraulic passage of the plurality of hydraulic passages, each first connecting passage is defined by a first radiused geometry that fluidly connects the first hydraulic passage to the at least one annular chamber of a respective valve bore of the first set of the valve bores such that fluid flowing in the first connecting passage flows radially through a first outer portion of the at least one annular chamber;
- and
- a plurality of second connecting passages fluidly connecting a second set of the valve bores to a second hydraulic passage of the plurality of hydraulic passages, each second connecting passage is defined by a second radiused geometry that fluidly connects the second hydraulic passage to the at least one annular chamber of a respective valve bore of the second set of the valve bores such that fluid flowing in the second connecting passage flows radially through a second outer portion of the at least one annular chamber.
A unitized valve body manufactured by an additive manufacturing process, the unitized valve body comprising:
- a hydraulic passage;
- a plurality of valve bores, each valve bore having a central bore and a plurality of annular chambers, the central bore disposed about an axis and configured to receive a valve, the plurality of annular chambers surrounding at least a portion of the central bore in a radial direction of the axis;
- and
- a plurality of connecting passages fluidly connecting the valve bores to the hydraulic passage,
- wherein each connecting passage is defined by a radiused geometry that fluidly connects the hydraulic passage to at least one annular chamber of the plurality of annular chambers of a respective valve bore such that fluid flowing in the connecting passage flows radially through an outer portion of the at least one annular chamber.
