Abstract
A method of modifying a hub with a wheel adaptor. The wheel adaptor includes a cylindrical body, a first set of holes that includes six symmetrically spaced holes located at a first radial distance, a second set of holes that include three holes located at a second radial distance, and a third set of holes that include another three holes located at a third radial distance. The method includes coupling the wheel adaptor to the hub. The coupling includes passing six symmetrically spaced lugs of the hub through the wheel adaptor at the first set of holes and fastening using six hub lug nuts. The method further includes drilling six holes through the hub using the second set of holes and the third set of holes of the wheel adaptor as drilling guides.

A method of modifying a hub with a wheel adaptor comprising a cylindrical body having first face and second face that define a central axis that is perpendicular to the first face and the second face, a first set of holes extending between the first face and the second face, wherein the first set of holes include six symmetrically spaced holes located at a first radial distance from the central axis, a second set of holes extending between the first face and the second face, wherein the second set of holes include three holes located at a second radial distance from the central axis, wherein the second radial distance is different than the first radial distance, and a third set of holes extending between the first face and the second face, wherein the third set of holes include another three holes located at a third radial distance from the central axis, wherein the third radial distance is different than the second radial distance and the first radial distance, the method comprising:
- coupling the wheel adaptor to the hub by passing six symmetrically spaced lugs of the hub from the second face to the first face through the first set of holes of the wheel adaptor, wherein the six symmetrically spaced lugs are secured to the hub with six hub lug nuts at the first face of the wheel adaptor;
- and
- drilling six holes through the hub from a front hub face to a rear hub face using the second set of holes and the third set of holes of the wheel adaptor as drilling guides.
A method of modifying a hub to receive a multi-pattern wheel with a wheel adaptor, the method comprising:
- receiving six symmetrically spaced hub lugs at a first set of holes in the wheel adaptor, wherein the wheel adaptor comprises:
- a body having first face and second face that define a central axis that is perpendicular to the first face and the second face, wherein the first set of holes extend between the first face and the second face, and wherein the first set of holes include six symmetrically spaced holes located at a first radial distance from the central axis;
- a second set of holes extending between the first face and the second face, wherein the second set of holes include three holes located at a second radial distance from the central axis;
- a third set of holes extending between the first face and the second face, wherein the third set of holes include another three holes located at a third radial distance from the central axis, wherein the first radial distance, the second radial distance and the third radial distance are dissimilar;
- coupling the wheel adaptor to the hub, wherein the coupling includes threading six hub lug nuts at the first face of the wheel adaptor about the six symmetrically spaced hub lugs;
- drilling, using the second set of holes and the third set of holes of the wheel adaptor as drilling guides, six holes from a front hub face to a rear hub face;
- and
- removing, after the drilling the six holes, the wheel adaptor and the six symmetrically spaced hub lugs.
