A compound represented by the following General Formula

• wherein, in the General Formula (I),
• P1 and P2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, —CN, —NCS, or a polymerizable group,
• Sp1 and Sp2 each independently represent a single bond or a divalent linking group,
• Sp1 and Sp2 do not represent a divalent linking group containing at least one group selected from the group consisting of an aromatic hydrocarbon ring group, an aromatic heterocyclic group, and an aliphatic hydrocarbon ring group,
• z1, Z2 and Z3 each independently represent a single bond, —O—, —S—, —CHR—, —CHRCHR—, —OCHR—, —CHRO—, —SO—, —SO2—, —COO—, —OCO—, —CO—S—, —S—CO—, —O—CO—O—, —CO—NR—, —NR—CO—, —SCHR—, —CHRS—, —SO—CHR—, —CHR—SO—, —SO2—CHR—, —CHR—SO2—, —CF2O—, —OCF2—, —CF2S—, —SCF2—, —OCHRCHRO—, —SCHRCHRS—, —SO—CHRCHR—SO—, —SO2—CHRCHR—SO2—, —CH—CH—COO—, —CH—CH—OCO—, —COO—CH—CH—, —OCO—CH=CH—, —COO—CHRCHR—, —OCO—CHRCHR—, —CHRCHR—COO—, —CHRCHR—OCO—, —COO—CHR—, —OCO—CHR—, —CHR—COO—, —CHR—OCO—, —CR=CR—, —CR=N—, —N=CR—, —N=N—, —CR=N—N=CR—, —CF=CF—, or —C=C—;
• R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms;
• in a case where a plurality of R's are present, the plurality of R's may be the same or different from each other;
• in a case where a plurality of Z1's and a plurality of Z2's are present, the plurality of Z1's and the plurality of Z2's may be respectively the same or different from each other;
• a plurality of Z3's may be the same or different from each other, Z3 linked to Sp2 represents a single bond,
• X1 and X2 each independently represent a single bond or —S—, a plurality of X1's and a plurality of X2's may be respectively the same or different from each other,
• at least two of the plurality of X1's and the plurality of X2's in the General Formula (I) represent —S—
• k represents an integer of 2 to 4, m and n each independently represent an integer of 0 to 3, a plurality of m's may be the same or different from each other,
• A1, A2, A3, and A4 each independently represent a group represented by any of the following General Formulae (B-1) to (B-7) or a group formed by linking two or three groups represented by any of the General Formulae (B-1) to (B-7);
• a plurality of A2's and a plurality of A3's may be respectively the same or different from each other;
• and in a case where a plurality of A1's and a plurality of A4's are present, the plurality of A1's and the plurality of A4's may be respectively the same or different from each other,
• wherein, in the General Formulae (B-1) to (B-7),
• W1 to W18 each independently represent CR1 or N, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or the following substituent L,
• Y1 to Y6 each independently represent NR2, O, or S, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or the following substituent L,
• G1 to G4 each independently represent CR3R4, NR5, O, or S, R3 to R5 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or the following substituent L,
• M1 and M2 each independently represent CR6 or N, R6 represents a hydrogen atom or the following substituent L,
• * represents a bonding position,
• the substituent L is an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkylamino group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkylthio group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkanoyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkanoyloxy group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkanoylamino group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkanoylthio group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkyloxycarbonyl group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkylaminocarbonyl group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkylthiocarbonyl group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, a hydroxy group, an amino group, a mercapto group, a carboxy group, a sulfo group, an amide group, a cyano group, a nitro group, a halogen atom, or a polymerizable group;
• in a case where the above group described as the substituent L has —CH2—, a group formed by replacing at least one —CH2—contained in the above group with —O—, —CO—, —CH—CH—, or —C═C— is also included in the substituent L;
• and in a case where the above group described as the substituent L has a hydrogen atom, a group formed by replacing at least one of hydrogen atoms contained in the above group with at least one selected from the group consisting of a fluorine atom and a polymerizable group is also included in the substituent L.
