Abstract
An apparatus for the treatment of canine or other animal hip pathologies, the apparatus (200) comprising a buffer (210) adapted to be disposed between a femur (10) and a hip socket (25), and a fixing means (250) adapted to fix the buffer to the femur.
Claims18
An apparatus for the treatment of a hip, the apparatus comprising:
- a main body adapted to be fitted to an excision surface of a femur from which at least the femoral head has been excised and to be disposed between a femur and at least a part of a pelvis around a hip socket;
- and
- arms having arm holes for attaching the arms to the sides of the femur,
- wherein the main body has a bottom surface and an upper part spaced in a first direction from the bottom surface,
- the bottom surface is adapted to abut the excision surface,
- a size of the main body in at least one direction in plan view is larger than a corresponding size of an opening of the acetabular socket of the hip subject to treatment, whereby the upper part contacts the rim of the acetabular socket and sits outside the acetabular socket allowing for movement of the upper part relative to the acetabular socket, and
- the arms are adapted to extend from the main body in a second direction away from the upper part and are positioned on opposite sides of a buffer.
